At The Crown Group, we are always exploring innovative ways we can support our local community. After selecting Leighton Hospital’s Children’s Ward as our new charity partner, we were informed how beneficial the integration of VR (Virtual Reality) equipment would be. It has since become our mission to raise £7,554 to purchase a VR headset. This will help boost patient comfort by improving pain management, enhance staff and patient experiences by reducing stress levels, and even lower healthcare costs by minimising medication use.
A Day on the Green
To start raising funds, while also spreading awareness of the amazing medical support that Leighton Hospital’s Children’s Ward provides, we organised and hosted an unforgettable Annual Open at The Mere Golf Resort on 5th September (International Day of Charity).
The day featured an 18-hole golf tournament with prizes for longest drive, closest pin, and more. Attendees also enjoyed plenty of networking opportunities, before rounding off the day with a meal and raffle in the evening. This environment was perfect for people to feel comfortable discussing their own personal experiences, showcasing how much the medical support provided at Leighton Hospital’s Children’s Ward was close to home for numerous attendees. Due to the generosity throughout the day, together we raised an incredible £2,381, resulting in us reaching 31% of our £7,554 target.
We are currently in the process of organising other initiatives to raise funds, that will assist in us reaching our target.
Bringing People Together
Beyond raising £2,381 for Leighton Hospital’s Children’s Ward, the day was a wonderful chance to bring colleagues, clients, and friends together. Attendees got to witness first hand our company culture with one expressing, ‘I could see you are a very close-knit group with everyone caring and passionate about the business and delivery to clients’. Events like this highlight how powerful it can be when people come together for a shared purpose.
A Huge Thank You
At The Crown Group, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part, donated, or supported the day in any way. Every pound raised will help us to reach our end goal of purchasing a VR headset, which will assist Leighton Hospital’s Children’s Ward in continuing its vital work and bring comfort to families when they need it most.
